Notes

Salerne was still seeking satisfaction in 1387. His son, also a John, built on his father's success, and was MP of both New Romney and Winchelsea, as well as being mayor of Winchelsea. He died holding property across Kent and Sussex. From the patent roll, it would appear that he was a vintner of Winchelsea (CPR 1364-1367, p. 16). Merchant of Winchelsea seeking compensation for a crayer loaded with salt and other merchandise in Poitou to men supporting Charles of Blois in the Breton civil war (fl. 1363).
